While writing my own memoir about becoming a medium, I never thought I would write a work of fiction.  But Claire Winters is a medium in Florida (hmmm, sounds familiar).   And she lives in the fictional town of Carmine Beach, FL.  However, if you are familiar with Vero Beach, you will see the similarities (wink, wink).

During the course of Claire's work as a medium, she gets a new client - a very handsome one, who just happens to have connections to the Miami mob.  Curious to see what happens with that?    This is a quick and easy read with humor, romance and mystery.  The book will be available starting July 15th on Amazon and shortly after on my website.

Sneak Peak...

At the moment, I am in my office sitting across from Sirena; a middle-aged housewife of Russian descent. The tears come quietly at first, gathering in the corners of her eyes before slipping down her cheeks. She doesn't try to stop them. She lowers her head, letting the tears fall in silence.  I gently pass the box of Kleenex across the table. Sirena’s mom died suddenly from an aneurysm last month and she wants to know if her spirit is around her and is sending her signs.  Sirena’s mother lived with her for the last five years and she misses her terribly. It wasn’t just grieving a parent that was so hard —she was grieving her best friend.

As I give her messages from her dead mother ranging from seeing a cardinal at her kitchen window - to telling her she is watering her spider plant too much; I can hear my secretary Andrea’s high heels clicking around the waiting room.  Click, click, click.  “Don’t get distracted,” I tell myself.  This session is almost over.  Sirena blows her nose,  gives me a hug and thanks me for bringing her comfort.  How could I know that she had her mother’s pearl necklace in her pocket?

My name is Claire and I see dead people.  Well,  most of the time I just sense them - or hear them or smell them.  Some call me a medium.  And yes - a “Claire - voyant.”  You might even be wondering what that is.   Well, a medium is a psychic who has fine-tuned their extrasensory perception and can interface with spirits in other dimensions. They are able to feel and/or hear thoughts, voices, or mental impressions from the spirit world.

I walk Sirena out to the waiting room and I can smell the nail polish that Andrea just used to touch up her long hot pink nails.  Andrea was my client before she became my secretary.  She came to see me several times after her boyfriend committed suicide.  She was riddled with guilt playing the “what if” game.

The first reading was very emotional for her.  I knew she didn’t have much money; and she was so visibly upset, that there was no way I could charge her.  She was so distraught.  Did I need the money?  Yes!   But she needed it more.  She didn’t tell me that - I just knew.   Her boyfriend, Larry, had been suffering from depression and he had quit taking his medication.  One of the reasons for the discontinuation, was that it was causing erectile dysfunction.  Larry told her that he felt he somehow failed her. He worried about what she was thinking, even though she hadn't said a word. She knew he was sinking deeper and deeper into despair but she couldn’t seem to cheer him up.  And he was too proud to ask for help.

One night while alone, he took too many pills and chased them down with vodka.  He went to sleep and didn’t wake up.  Larry explained to her during the reading that this was not her fault.  There was nothing she or anyone else could have done to ease his pain.  He also told her he was experiencing great peace.
